Trust your eyes - true colour LED Illumination
Olympus is taking brightfield to the next level with the most advanced mixed-matrix brightfield LED technology currently available. This new true-colour LED has been designed to provide a colour rendering index very similar to that of halogen bulbs with daylight filters. This means that stain colours appear exactly the same under the true colour LED as they do under daylight filtered halogen, and also that similar (but not the same) colours can be clearly differentiated. Such clarity cannot be provided by standard LEDs as they cannot provide the same colour rendering capabilities and thus diagnostic imaging becomes difficult. This advanced colour rendering technology therefore provides a wavelength range ideal for the most commonly used stain colours - purple, blue and red (e.g. haematoxylin and eosin – HE or Papanicolaou stain - Pap).

Increased efficiency - Light intensity management (LIM)
Due to their nature, LEDs are ideal for transmitted bright field illumination as they offer easy intensity control, with a constant colour temperature profile over the entire intensity range. Olympus has maximised this distinct benefit with the built-in Light Intensity Manager (LIM), which provides an easy to use interface for setting and automating brightness levels associated with each different objective, reducing the fine adjustments usually completed by the user with each objective. The Olympus BX46 was specifically designed to meet the rigorous demands of repetitive routine microscopy. In contrast to conventional microscopes, where samples are focused using a moving stage, the Olympus BX46 has a moveable objective nosepiece. This allows the stage to be fixed in the Z-plane very close to the desk surface and it is therefore in the same place relative to the user’s hand at all times. Comfortable operation – ultra low stage and ergonomic control
The BX46 design is a complete departure from the standard upright microscope, offering a stage positioned only 128 mm above the desk surface – lower than any other microscope in this class. This has two very positive effects for the user: the stage is always at the same height and requires very little elevation of the hand and forearm from the desk to place and remove samples from the stage surface. In addition to its low, fixed height, the BX46 offers two further ergonomic features a low torque mechanism and ergo-grips on the X,Y controls, both reducing the force required to navigate around the sample.

Individual ergonomics - three dimensional tube adjustment
Creating the perfect, upright and comfortable posture during microscope operation is not only essential, but entirely dependent on the user. With the ergonomically perfected telescopic, tilting, lifting observation tube, the inclination angle (-3 to 27°), tube extension (55 mm) and tube height (45 mm) can be adjusted, allowing a fully flexible set-up in three dimensions. As a result the microscope can be adjusted to precisely match the user, rather than the other way round.

Wide range magnification condenser
The BX46 condenser covers a total magnification range from 1.25x to 100x. Continuous observation using objective magnifications from 4x to 100x is possible without the need to swing the condenser’s front lens out of the light path. Since switching between these low magnification objectives is common for clinical screening, removing the swing-in/swing-out step makes screening far more efficient and therefore the user can save lots of time. Importantly for the clinical field, where brightfield observation of stained specimens (such as HE stained tissue sections) is core, Olympus has developed condensers with white tops, which enable users to position slides very easily by eye.

The new Olympus BX53 provides advanced modularity to suit a variety of observation styles. Optically ahead of the curve - the UIS2 optical system
At the heart of any light microscope is the optical system; a series of lenses, prisms and filters designed to magnify the target area of a sample whilst resolving more detail from it. This is far more complex than this basic overview portrays: Since as well as enabling samples to be imaged they allow the introduction and control of light and the projection of images to the eyes (or to a camera). On top of all of this are a range of optical aberrations that can affect microscopy if not properly corrected for. The Olympus UIS2 optical components have been developed to provide the perfect optical system; setting a new standard in precision and clarity.

Dedicated to Fluorescence
As well as the objectives, the new UIS2 fluorescent mirror cube range and 8 position mirror turret have been optimised for flexible and high quality imaging. An ultra high quality coating process provides excellent transmission and exceptionally steep cut-off slopes and the low reflection interior surfaces eliminate over 99% of stray light. As a result, these filter cubes ensure the highest sensitivity  and best colour separation, which coupled with the low auto-fluorescent glass materials, further improves the S:N ratio. In addition the mirror cubes can be exchanged without the need for any tools, making updates very quick and easy.

A novel fluorescence illumination concept
Fluorescence illumination has been at the forefront of life science microscopy for many years. With the BX3 systems, Olympus has incorporated a number of design features and components that will enable fluorescence to maintain this leading position. Of these advances the most important is the introduction of a novel fly-eye lens system which ensures that the field of view is illuminated homogeneously. As well as providing such flawless illumination, the fly-eye system also provides simpler burner alignment.

Ambidextrous
The Olympus BX53 microscope is designed to be ambidextrous so you don’t have to be! For example, the light control dial is placed in the centre of the frame, and the transmitted attenuation filters and fluorescence shutters can be operated from either side, as can the focus knobs. If the microscope is fitted with an Olympus digital camera, a remote exposure button is available, which can also be placed on either side of the frame, enabling uninterrupted image framing and capture. As a result you maintain full control over you workspace, consequently improving workflow efficiency as everything is exactly where you want it.

The Olympus BX63 is completely motorised and is uniquely focused via the nosepiece rather than stage, which enables the stage to be fixed making it more stable. Be precise! – Ultrasonic motorised stage
The Olympus BX63 features a new, highly accurate, ultrasonic stage. Driven by advanced Piezo technology, the stage has a small form factor with silent and extremely smooth operation. It can also be physically positioned by hand enabling rapid gross sample alignment. Via the high precision built-in encoders, the stage provides true X,Y coordination, enabling the user to set exact coordinates and navigate directly to them at high speed, even if the stage has been manually positioned. This new ultrasonic stage is also the basis for the automation of complex imaging procedures, such as MIA and multi-dimensional experiments, using the cellSens software packages.

Design your personal workspace – Unique control concept
Every person has a different way of organising their things – be it their work desk or their wardrobe, and their way will not necessarily suit anyone else. Olympus has enabled this complete user-defined control concept with its BX63 microscope, which combines detachable manual controllers, touch panel and software control and allows unmatched workspace personalisation.

Control at your fingertips – The BX63 touch panel
The BX63 is supplied with a unique, programmable touch-screen control that greatly simplifies observation and imaging tasks and offers full control of all microscope functions including focus and motorised stage. The interface can be set to a ‘navigation mode’ that is context-sensitive, displaying only the functions that are relevant to observation method in use. The alternative ‘full operation’ mode allows researchers access to the full range of functions and customisation options available. The user account system provides more than 30 individual accounts, which can be used for personal settings and can all be protected by password.

The manual touch – detachable control units
For users that prefer hands-on control, the BX63 has an optional remote control unit that can be placed wherever the user requires it. For more traditional working the controls can be affixed to the front of the frame. This unit provides coarse and fine focus knobs, X,Y stage controller and push button controls for efficiently changing between observation methods, objectives and mirror units, as well as for adjusting light intensity and controlling camera and fluorescence shutter.

Total system control – cellSens software for life science applications
Consisting of three different packages: cellSens Entry, cellSens Standard and cellSens Dimension, all user requirements can be met with ease. Incorporating a unique user-definable interface, the imaging process can be personalised from start to finish, for complete control over the entire experiment. Furthermore, each package integrates seamlessly with Microsoft Windows and Office programmes, making the advanced functionality of the Olympus cellSens family extremely user-friendly.

Optically ahead of the curve – the UIS2 optical system
At the heart of any light microscope is the optical system; a series of lenses, prisms and filters designed to magnify the target area of a sample whilst resolving more detail from it. This is far more complex than this basic overview portrays: Since as well as enabling samples to be imaged they allow the introduction and control of light and the projection of images to the eyes (or to a camera). On top of all of this are a range of optical aberrations that can affect microscopy if not properly corrected for. The Olympus UIS2 optical components have been developed to provide the perfect optical system; setting a new standard in precision and clarity.

Dedicated to Fluorescence
As well as the objectives, the new UIS2 fluorescent mirror cube range and 8 position mirror turret have been optimised for flexible and high quality imaging. An ultra high quality coating process provides excellent transmission and exceptionally steep cut-off slopes and the low reflection interior surfaces eliminate over 99% of stray light. As a result, these filter cubes ensure the highest sensitivity  and best colour separation, which coupled with the low auto-fluorescent glass materials, further improves the S:N ratio. In addition the mirror cubes can be exchanged without the need for any tools, making updates very quick and easy.

A novel fluorescence illumination concept
Fluorescence illumination has been at the forefront of life science microscopy for many years. With the BX3 systems, Olympus has incorporated a number of design features and components that will enable fluorescence to maintain this leading position. Of these advances the most important is the introduction of a novel fly-eye lens system which ensures that the field of view is illuminated homogeneously. As well as providing such flawless illumination, the fly-eye system also provides simpler burner alignment.

Digital imaging ready – uncompromising ergonomics
A range of tubes are available for the BX3 range to suit every requirement. For the greatest system flexibility and user comfort, the tilting, trinocular U-TTR2 tube provides excellent eye piece height adjustment as well as interpupillary distance control, and the optical path slider can be attached to either side of the tube, once again this puts the user in full control of the microscope and ensures that the microscope adjusts to their posture and not vice versa.

Capturing everything correctly – Olympus digital camera range
It is always preferable to have a choice, and this is definitely true when it comes to matching your digital imaging requirements with your project work. For bright-field applications you’ll want dazzling colour fidelity and for fluorescence you’ll need the perfect monochrome capture. There are also those occasions where you would like a microscope camera that can do both. Add to this selection the ability to pick from a range of image sizes and resolutions, and the Olympus digital microscope camera range really does offer you the flexibility of choice.

The Motic BA210 is designed for both educational and teaching environments delivering a new higher level of optical performance.

The new Motic BA210 series is setting a new standard in microscope performance through inprovements both in optical and mechanical features. Designed to be used in Educational Life Science, Medical as well as a variety of biological applications, this new microscope is built around Motic's complete understanding of the daily demands placed on the standard educational microscope.

Student proof features together with a new generation of EF-N Plan Achromatic objectives provide a fully corrected intermediate image for crisp and clear visual and digital results.

The Elite version of Motic’s established BA410 flagship model displays the highest level of optical performance.
 
A complete set of Plan Apochromatic lenses is now available for maximum demands in colour reproduction and resolution. The BA410E allows a profound diagnosis in pathology, haematology and cytology with their requirements for best colour fidelity. Increased Numerical Apertures provide an expanded resolution power for a more detailed specimen evaluation.
 
The AUTO ON-OFF function with its energy-saving aspect improves lab safety: a final instrument check before closing time is no longer necessary. A light memory function, based on a coded 6-fold nosepiece, memorizes the light intensity of each nosepiece position. When changing to a specific objective, the last illumination setup of this position is recalled. Once coordinated, there is no need to adjust the illumination when changing magnification. For increased illumination power, a 100W Halogen version is available.
 
The rackless stage concept, well known from BA210/BA310 Elite models, is now adopted in this flagship model. A ceramic stage insert for highest abrasion resistance guarantees a perfectly flat placing of the glass slide for a lifetime.
